Here are several strategies to consider:

Nature Walks:

Schedule regular walks in natural settings, such as parks, forests, or nature reserves. Aim for at least 30 minutes of walking a few times a week.

Outdoor Activities:

Include activities such as walking, cycling, or gardening. These can help you stay active while enjoying the benefits of being outdoors.  (There are nature trails for wheelchair users)

Mindful Nature Observations:

Practice mindfulness by spending time in nature and observing your surroundings. Focus on the sounds, sights, and smells around you to enhance your connection with the environment.

Gardening:

If you have space, consider creating a small garden to grow flowers, herbs, or vegetables. Gardening can be therapeutic and provides a sense of accomplishment.

Nature-based Therapy:

Explore options like ecotherapy or nature therapy with a qualified professional. These approaches often involve immersive experiences in natural settings to enhance mental health.

Wildlife Watching:

Dedicate time to observe local wildlife, whether it's birdwatching, visiting a nature reserve, or simply noticing the animals in your backyard.

Seasonal Activities:

Engage in seasonal outdoor activities, such as sledging in winter, picnicking in summer, or leaf-peeping in autumn, to explore how nature changes over time.

Nature Journaling:

Keep a journal of your experiences in nature, including observations, feelings, and reflections. This can enhance your appreciation and awareness of the natural world.

Join Nature Groups:

Participate in local nature or hiking groups. Meeting others who enjoy the outdoors can provide social support and motivation.

Environmental Volunteering:

Consider volunteering for local conservation groups or clean-up events. Helping the environment can foster a deeper connection to nature and promote a sense of purpose.

Nature-Inspired Resources:

Use nature-themed apps or websites for guided meditations or relaxation exercises set in natural environments.

Incorporate Nature at Home:

Bring nature indoors with houseplants, flowers, or nature-themed decor. Creating a peaceful and natural indoor environment can improve your mood and well-being.

Summing up….

In your Supported Self Management Plan, set specific, achievable goals related to these activities and identify support systems or resources that can help you engage with nature regularly. Reflect on how these activities impact your mental and physical health, and adjust your plan as needed.
